3 and 4 do exist with the arrows in the same position but pointing in opposite directions, used in one-way streets to prohibit parking on the left. Order of appearance on roads is: 3, 1, 4. Same meaning as 1ģ: begin of a no-stopping zone (sign on the right hand of the road) The arrows then show the direction that parking/stopping is prohibited.ġ: no stopping - middle: used as a reminder (at least all 50m)Ģ: not existing/old layout(?): the arrows should be at the top and bottom, like in 1. The easiest way to think of this is to imagine that the sign is turned 90° to be visible through the side windows of your car as you drive past. If the sign is posted on the left, the meaning of the arrows is reversed: an arrow pointing to the right means you cannot park/stop behind the sign, and an arrow pointing to the right means you cannot park/stop in front of it. Taking the usual case, with the sign posted on the right: an arrow pointing to the right means you cannot park/stop in front of the sign an arrow pointing to the left means you cannot park/stop behind the sign. However, if it's a one-way street, it might be possible to park on the left. It's very rare that it will be posted on the left, because you can normally only park facing in the direction of the traffic flow, so that normally means you can only park on the right. If the sign only has one arrow, then it depends whether the sign in posted on the right-hand side of the road, or on the left-hand side. That means parking/stopping is prohibited both in front of the sign and behind it. The easiest sign to explain is the one with two arrows. The directions of the arrows is really, really confusing.
